Pennsylvania Meetings

Our next few meetings were in Pennsylvania. First we had an all day Sunday meeting in Jackson, PA. Jackson is a little bitty, out in the country town in northwest PA. The church was full of friendly people. They made us feel right at home. Because this Sunday was right after July 4th, there was an emphasis on patriotism during the morning service. We started the service with Toby Keith's American Soldier! A little different for church, but it was moving to see the video of soldiers serving our country while the song was played.

Rodney gave his testimony and preached the morning service. Many people visited with us after the service and showed real interest in our burden for Venezuela. It means a lot to the missionary when the church folks take the time to visit with them once the service is over.

After the service, we cooked out with the assistant pastor and his family. After lunch, we spent the next few hours looking at a discipleship program that this church uses. One thing that we independent Baptists are not doing enough of is discipling the babes in Christ. This program is promising and may help us once we reach Venezuela.

After Jackson, we drove to Washington, PA. Washington is in the south east corner of PA, about 3 hours away. While traveling to Washington, we drove the Elk Corrider and saw 3 elk. That was pretty neat.

Our service in Washington, PA was on a Wednesday night. We was able to spend some time with the pastor before church. It is always a blessing when the Pastor takes time to get to know you. This does not happen at every church. Rodney preached and presented our minstry in the service, and again, the people showed a lot of interest in our work.

After Washington, we had to travel to Aston, PA for Sunday morning. On the way to Aston, we drove through Gettysburg and a state park. At the park, we stopped to see a mighty waterfall. It was not very tall, but it was very strong and powerful.

Rodney preached and presented our work Aston. The congregation was mostly older people, and the little old ladies just love Rodney. The pastor and his wife were really sweet people. We were able to have dinner Saturday night and lunch Sunday afternoon with them. They were a real blessing.

For the Sunday night service, we had to drive three hours to Huntingdon, PA. That was a really long day. Rodney preached again, and the service went well.

We did not have a meeting scheduled for Wednesday, so we just picked one in the area. The church we happened to attend was pastored by the previous assistant pastor of Belmont Baptist Church in Conyers. It is really a small world.

Our last scheduled meeting for this trip is Sunday, July 20th. It is an all day meeting in Spencer, WV. We have a pastor friend in Ripley, WV that is allowing us to spend the days prior to this meeting in his prophet's chamber. What a blessing!! This has saved us several hundred dollars. After 8 weeks on the road, money is getting tight, but the Lord has provided for us all along the way. He is so good!

We are now counting the days until we come home. As of right now, 2 nights left. Yipeeeeeee!!!!!

Please pray that we will see much support from this 8 week journey.
