God's Power & Presence In Church

We will not be able to walk into church and not expect the Lord to meet with us like He did in Axton, VA. The first service we attended after Axton was a disappointment. The singing and preaching was just routine. It was a sad place to be. The Spirit of God could not be felt. It was just church as usual.

The next service we attended was in Maryville, TN. Praise the Lord, it was not just church as usual. The Lord met with us this Wednesday night. There was power in the singing, testifying and in the preaching. Rodney preached about the power and presence of God. The church voted to take us on for monthly support. (Three of the last four churches have taken us on for support!)

More importantly than the support, I have decided that the problem with church as usual is not a problem with God. He wants our services to be filled with His presence and power each time we meet. The problem is that people don't go into church expecting Him to do great and mighty things. I have seen through these past weeks that praising Him and blessing His name is what brings Him honour and glory. Not only that, but time spent in prayer will bring His spirit into the services. The church in Virginia held cottage prayer meetings to pray for the missions conference, and our home church held cottage prayer meetings prior to its revival in March. Thirty souls were saved at our revival.

God's people need to spend some time in prayer before each service. I believe that if we would spend some time in prayer and begin each service reminding ourselves how Holy and Worthy God is, He will do mighty things in our midst!
